How esports verification works
Esports verification lets schools tell results that come from the game publisher apart from results typed in by hand. You link the account you play on, Pinion reads your results from the publisher, and every esports value on your profile says where it came from and when it was read.
The three steps
Link the account you play on
In Pinion, go to Settings, then Esports verification, and choose the publisher. You sign in on the publisher's own site, not on Pinion. Pinion never sees your password.
Pinion reads your results
Once the account is linked, Pinion asks the publisher for your results: things like your rating, rank and matches played, depending on what that publisher shares.
Every value is labelled
Each esports value on your profile carries a label such as "Verified by FACEIT" and the date it was read, so anyone looking at it can see where it came from.
What the labels mean
Each esports title on your profile shows one of these:
- Verified results
- You've linked an account, and Pinion has read results for this title from the publisher in the last 30 days.
- Verified account
- You've linked an account that the publisher confirms is yours, but there are no recent results for this title. That happens when the publisher doesn't share results, when it has none for this account yet, or when the last reading is more than 30 days old.
- Not verified
- No linked account verifies this title. Anything shown for it is what you entered yourself.
Each value also has its own label. "Verified by Steam (2026-11-04)" means it was read from Steam on that date. A value read more than 30 days ago reads "Not verified (last verified …)" until it is read again.
Keeping results up to date
Pinion reads your linked accounts again about once a day, so your values stay current without you doing anything.
To read them right away, tap Refresh on the account in Esports verification. You can refresh an account once every 15 minutes.
If a publisher is busy or unavailable when Pinion tries, your values are kept and Pinion tries again later. They only lose their Verified label once they are more than 30 days old.
Your history
Pinion keeps every reading it takes, not just the latest one. Open a title from your profile in the app to see its history as a chart over time. Each refresh that reads results adds a point.
Unlinking an account
Tap Unlink on the account in Esports verification. Pinion deletes everything it read through that account, including its history, and the titles it verified go back to Not verified unless another linked account covers them. You can link the account again at any time.
If a publisher tells Pinion the account no longer exists, Pinion removes what it read through it and lets you know, so you can link the account you play on now.
If you're under 18
A parent or guardian needs to have given consent on Pinion before you can link a game account. It is the same consent Pinion needs before sharing your profile with schools. If consent is withdrawn, Pinion stops reading your accounts and your values go out of date.
What Pinion keeps
Pinion keeps:
- the publisher's ID for your account and the name it shows (for example your FACEIT nickname or Riot ID)
- the results the publisher reports, and when each was read
- every reading, for your history
Pinion never sees your password, and it doesn't keep your email address or anything that would let it sign in as you. One game account can be linked to only one Pinion profile.
Everything Pinion read through an account is deleted when you unlink it.
Titles no publisher can verify yet
Some titles, such as Valorant, Fortnite and Call of Duty, have no publisher Pinion can read from yet. They can still be on your profile, marked Not verified.
Publishers
How each publisher works, which titles it verifies and what Pinion reads from it:
- SteamSteam verifies Counter-Strike 2 and can share your lifetime match stats.
- FACEITFACEIT verifies the titles you play on FACEIT and shares your FACEIT rating and level.
- Riot GamesRiot Games verifies League of Legends and shares your ranked results.
- MicrosoftMicrosoft verifies Minecraft: Java Edition. It confirms the account is yours but shares no stats.
A publisher the app shows as "Not available yet" can't be linked for now. Its page explains how it will work.
